Collaborating with healthcare teams, they resolve coding discrepancies, stay updated on industry changes, and participate in audits.
They provide coding support to billing teams, utilize electronic health records and coding software, and contribute to departmental success and quality improvement initiatives.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education High School Diploma or GED Actively enrolled in a coding program for AHIMA or AAPC credential.
Minimum Experience Less than 6 months Required Registration/License/Certification Certification from AHIMA or AAPCPreferred Education Associate's degree in Health Information Technology Preferred Experience 6 months or greaterPreferred Registration/License/CertificationCCS, CPCOther RequirementsKnowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrate excellent organizational, computer, written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate strong Microsoft Office knowledge skills.
Must possess working knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.
Strong time management and critical thinking skills.
